I've finally reached the second semester of my senior year. But with my four AP classes, I do not have room to slack off. So, in order to motivate myself to continue to work hard through the end of the year I am going to create a SMART Goal.
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely. The point of SMART goals are to force people to be more specific in planning events, in hopes of increasing success rates. In the past, SMART Goals have always helped me be more productive in my leadership class and I'm hoping this translates to productivity in my life. Here's my goal:

My goal for second semester senior year is to finish will A's in all of my classes. This will be measured easily because I can keep track of all of my grades online to see how I am doing. This semester I finished with a B in my AP Literature class, so I know it will be possible for me to push for all A's second semester. This is important to me because I don't want to maintain a high level of productivity in order to prepare myself for college. To accomplish this goal I have until May 25th, which is my last day of school. This will allow room for any slip ups that I may have here and there on a test in one of my classes.
Specific: This goal is specific because I have indicated that I want all A's this semester. In order to do this I will set aside at least an hour everyday to review for classes I am struggling in. I will also start doing homework on Fridays. On the weekends, I often try to cram all my homework in on Sundays. So having this extra day will give me more time to figure out how to do my homework and process the information.
Measurable: This goal is measurable because my teachers very regularly update grades on PowerSchool. I can check my grades anytime I want to from my laptop, or on the app on my phone. Having the ability to check my grades will allow me to keep track of my progress.

Attainable: This goal is attainable because I was very close to achieving it first semester. In fact, I had all A's but I did not do very well on my AP Lit final. Next semester I will just work a little harder to end with a higher A so I don't have to worry so much about the final bringing my grade down.
Relevant: This goal is relevant because I really want to avoid senioritis and finish off high school strong.
Timely: This goal is timely because I have plenty of time between now and May 25th to make sure that my grades are where I need them to be.
